St. Marys Elementary School first begun in 1801 as St. Marys School in the basement of the Presbyterian Church.  The first school building, constructed near the waterfront, was destroyed by fire in 1943. In 1950, St. Marys Elementary School reopened. Having undergone renovations and expansions for six decades afterward, St. Marys Elementary School was approved to have a new completely new building constructed.

With construction completed in early 2010, this magnificent building stands two stories tall on the playground area of the old building and will serve our students for many decades to come.
