Camden County Schools invites private school representatives and parents of private or home-schooled students with disabilities to an important informational meeting regarding special education services.

The meeting will be held on Friday, May 30th at 9:00 a.m. at the Professional Learning Building, Room 106, located at 311 South East Street, Kingsland, GA.

Dr. Vannetta Melton, Director of Special Education, will lead the session, which is designed to foster dialogue and gather input on how special education services are provided to eligible private and home-schooled students.

As required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), a proportionate share of federal funding is designated for services to students with identified disabilities who are not enrolled in public schools. The May 30th meeting will help determine how these funds are best utilized moving forward.

“We value the voices of our community partners and families,” said Dr. Melton. “This is an opportunity to ensure that the needs of all eligible students are being met through collaborative planning.”

Those interested in attending are asked to confirm their attendance by contacting Ms. Sharon Keen at 912-729-5687.
