We are pleased to share an update regarding our plan to gradually transition students and staff back into the St. Marys Elementary School building.
Beginning next week, students will follow a phased return schedule to allow staff time to fully prepare classrooms and ensure a smooth transition back to campus:
Monday, February 2, through Wednesday, February 4: Students will continue attending school at the College of Coastal Georgia.
Thursday, February 5, and Friday, February 6: Students will participate in distance (remote) learning from home. Students will receive assignments prior to leaving school on Wednesday. During these two days, teachers and staff will be onsite preparing classrooms and instructional spaces for students' return.
Students will return to in-person instruction at St. Marys Elementary School on Monday, February 9, and attendance will be required at that time.
We understand that some families may have concerns regarding the return to the building. We are providing a one-time alternative for those who prefer not to return to the St. Marys Elementary School campus:
One-Time School Transfer Option: Families may request a transfer to another elementary school for the remainder of the current school year, subject to the following conditions:
Deadline: Requests must be submitted by Thursday, February 12.
Availability: Transfers are limited to schools with fewer than 600 students. Note: Sugarmill Elementary and Matilda Harris Elementary are excluded due to high enrollment.
Duration: Approved transfers remain in effect for the remainder of the school year. Students may return to St. Marys Elementary for the start of the next school year.
Transportation: District transportation will not be provided for transfer students.
School administration will share additional details regarding distance (remote) learning expectations and the transfer request process shortly.
