Good Afternoon, SMES families, we have had a great start to the school year! Here are a few important reminders to help our school days run smoothly:

Changes in Transportation: All transportation changes must be communicated directly to the front office by 2:00 PM each day. While it's also helpful to inform your child's teacher, the front office must receive the official notice, preferably via a phone call.

Early Check-Outs: For the safety and security of our students, all early check-outs must be completed by 2:30 PM.

Afternoon Pick-up Line: Beginning Tuesday, September 2nd, every car in the afternoon pick-up line must display a number or ridership pass. If you do not have one, you will be asked to go to the front office to pick up your student and a car tag or ridership pass.

Please let me know if you have any questions. You may email me at scobb@camden.k12.ga.us or call the school at 882-4839.

Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs. Cobb

Good Evening, Sharks!

PTO t-shirt preorders are in full swing! We’ve discovered an issue with placing orders for multiple shirts through Square. This is on their end and is currently being fixed.

👉 In the meantime, if you are ordering more than one shirt using the QR code, please place separate transactions (one shirt per order). There are no extra fees for online/credit card purchases, so multiple transactions will not increase your total.

We are also accepting cash orders with the paper forms that were sent home with your child.

⏰ Reminder: The preorder deadline is August 29th.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while this is resolved!

Good Afternoon SMES! Beginning today, please do not pull into the front circle for our AM or PM car line. This keeps the entrance clear for safety vehicles, AM EDP drop-off, and our PM VIP Car Rider winners. The car line will begin in the right-hand turn lane, behind the orange cones. Thank you for your support!

Safety Reminder!

School safety remains our highest priority. Families, we need your partnership in reminding and educating your children about the seriousness of making threats. What may seem like an innocent prank, or simply something said out of anger or frustration, can carry very serious consequences. Every threat, whether real or fake, demands an immediate law enforcement response, disrupts learning, and can result in life-changing legal prosecution.

We take EVERY threat seriously and will continue working closely with the St. Marys Police Department, Kingsland Police Department, and the Camden County Sheriff’s Office to ensure swift and decisive responses to all threats.

The safety of our students and staff will always be our top priority. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Protecting with Purpose,

Chief Kizzi Knight

• Route changes will be addressed once all student schedules are finalized
• Additional route adjustments may be needed to address overcrowding

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰: School buses are the most regulated vehicles on the road. They’re designed to be safer than passenger vehicles in preventing crashes and injuries, and in every state, stop-arm laws exist to protect children from other motorists.
If you are driving, remember these simple rules:
– 𝐘𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 — don’t speed up — because the bus is preparing to stop. There are - likely students waiting to get on the bus or parents waiting nearby to pick up children.
– 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 — and wait at least 20 feet behind the bus — because children are getting on or off the school bus. Stay stopped until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop-arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving.
– 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧, particularly in the morning or mid-afternoon, around school arrival and dismissal times. Be alert as you back out of a driveway, or drive through a neighborhood, school zone or bus stop.
𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 - 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐛𝐮𝐬 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧:
Your child should arrive at the bus stop at least 10 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. Teach them to play it SAFE:
– 𝐒tay five steps away from the curb.
– 𝐀lways wait until the bus comes to a complete stop and the bus driver signals for you to board.
– 𝐅ace forward after finding a seat on the bus.
– 𝐄xit the bus after it stops and look left-right-left for cars before crossing a street.

Camden Families:

If you are not seeing a bus route for your child in the My Ride K-12 app, please log in to Infinite Campus to verify that the Transportation question was completed during your child’s registration.

We’ve found that many parents unintentionally skipped this step, which prevents the bus route from being assigned and displayed in the app.

Once you have confirmed that the Transportation question has been completed, please allow 24 hours during the work week before checking the My Ride K-12 app. If your child’s bus route still isn’t showing after that time, please contact the Transportation Department at (912) 729-8374 for assistance.

Thank you for helping us ensure a smooth start to the school year!
